Blessings and Miracles

God opened the door on the very first day of hearing, the difficult news that the only hospital to do the Norwood procedure was 10 minutes from our house.

Awaiting arrival, Amy sees a quilt at Daisy Kingdom which she wants to build Abbie's room around. The quilt was not available. After a few days of looking for another quilt, the lady who made the Daisy Kingdom quilt heard about Abbie and wanted to give the quilt to Amy. Such a blessing!

As soon as Abbie was born, Dr. King checked out her heart. At that time they found that her right ventricle was too thin for the Norwood. Jason and Amy were devastated. Tuesday, Oct 24, Dr. King does a echocardiogram on Abbie and sees the right side has somehow healed! He says that he can go ahead with the Norwood.

The nurse that took care of Abbie for the first three nights was a friend from Multnomah. It was such a blessing to have her watch and pray over Abbie.

The fourth night nurse was a friend of Jason's ministry. She volunteered for the shift so she could pray over Abbie. (How awesome is that!)

Jason's dad baptizes Abbie in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Then the elders of Community Bible Fellowship anoint Abbie with oil, laid hands on her, and prayed healing and blessing over her.

Amy's brothers and wives come from California within 12 hours to see baby Abbie before surgery. Jason's brother Jeremy finds out his boss plays the trumpet at Jason and Amy's church and is given the day off for Abbie's surgery.

Abbie has Norwood, Wed, Oct 25, 2000 - the day originally scheduled - and comes through with flying colors.

Except for one episode the night of surgery, Abbie made a steady progress.

Incredible people: Aunts and uncles bought locket for Amy. They wanted to engrave it, but the person who does the engraving said that it would take 24 hours. The aunts and uncles shared the story to the man. The man then opened his shirt and shared that he also had heart surgery when he was a few months old. He closed down the shop and engraved the heart for free. The heart says "Abbie."

Another incredible person was a Kinko's employee named Dan. After photo copying a ton of pictures from the digital camera, Dan gave an incredible discount after seeing the miracle of what was happening. Thanks Dan!

Chest Closed, Monday October 30, with no problems.

Jason's mom, Pat, confirms that Abbie's surgeon, Dr. Starr operated on Pat 49 years ago when he was a young cardiologist. Dr. Starr, Pat Thompson and Abbie Thompson posed for a powerful picture of how God uses man to accomplish His will.

Friends from Amy's work have been an awesome blessing. One major blessing was the formation of this web site. With it, people from all around the world can check out the great things God is doing in Abbie.
